There is a particular kind of silence that happens at a Greek counter.
You have rehearsed the sentence. You get it out. And then the person behind the glass answers, quickly, in a flat administrative Greek that sounds nothing like anything you have practised, and the whole thing collapses into English, or into pointing.
It is not that your Greek is bad. It is that nobody teaches this part.
Phrase books give you the taverna. Apps give you the airport. Nobody gives you the tax office, the KEP, the bank, the moment where three words would have changed everything.
In the 2026 Expats Greece community survey, the three things people named most often were paperwork, language and community. Around one in three named the language barrier. Those were never three separate problems. They are one problem, and it has one lever.
What we will do in 75 minutes
Practise the phrases that get you through an appointment, out loud, together. Not slides you read. Your voice, in your mouth.
Listen to real Greek spoken at real speed, the way a clerk actually says it, and work out why your ear loses it.
Learn the sixteen words that live on every Greek form, so the page in front of you stops being a wall.
Look at where all of this actually leads, which is not paperwork at all.
And then, for the people who are there
At the 75-minute mark I stop the recording, and I stay for another twenty minutes.
That part is a phrase clinic.
You bring the situation you are actually dreading, the appointment on Thursday, the phone call to the accountant, the conversation with the neighbour you have been avoiding for two years, and I give you the Greek for it, on the spot, out loud.
It is not recorded and it is not repeated. It only exists if you are in the live call.

Who is teaching
I am Chrysafenia, a Greek philologist and classical archaeologist, working for 27 years in the Greek Puplic Sector.
I have an MA in classical archaeology and an MSc in cultural management, and I have spent over twelve years teaching this language, most of that to people who were quite sure they could not learn it.
I run The Wise Greek Owl Project, and I teach Greek the way it is actually spoken, with the culture attached, because a language without its culture is just noise. With it, it is an invitation.

It is a lesson. At the end I will tell you about the programme that opens the same evening, because that is honest, and then you can decide or not decide.
The taught 75 minutes, yes, for 48 hours. The phrase clinic at the end is not recorded, so that is the part you have to turn up for.
No. Leave at 75 minutes and you will have had a full lesson. Stay, and you get your own sentences.
